Mt Hood Anniversary Adventure Session

I believe that it’s ALWAYS the right time to celebrate your love. But there are times when it’s just a MUST, ie, your 10 year anniversary with the love of your life.

Krystal and Kevin had an amazing vision for their anniversary celebration, and I was so excited to get to capture it for them. First of all, you should know, Krystal and Kevin are badass adventure people. Like the kind that hike the highest mountain in the lower 48 states (Mt Whitney)! Yeah! I know!!! Badasses!

When Krystal explained that they wanted to go to either Crater Lake National Park or Mt. Hood, I may have screamed just a lil! Two absolute bucket list places to photograph. Due to weather and smoke we ended up opting for Mt. Hood, and it was perfect.

Trillium Lake Magic

We meet at Trillium Lake, a gorgeous lake nestled at the bottom of Mt. Hood, an easy 15 minute drive from Government Camp. When I tell you I was excited to be there, well, that would be an understatement. I get excited for every shoot, but this one was definitely a dream. We took some adorable shots with the stunning Mt. Hood casually reflecting in the lake behind the love birds.

On to the mountain

From there, we headed up to Government Camp and took some fun adventure shots of Kyrstal and Kevin in their element, on the trail. They had the cutest signs made to celebrate 10 years!

There are hiking trails going up the mountain from Timberline Lodge, these aren’t that difficult as they are still fairly low on the mountain. You don’t need a permit to take photos for a shoot like this out Mt Hood, but if you are doing a larger event or something that requires any type of installation (think micro wedding, arch etc) you would want to check with them to make sure no permits are needed. The views along the trails are really beautiful, as is looking back over the valleys below.

For sunset, outfits got swapped and we got into romantics just as the mist started rolling in around Mt. Hood. Weather can change quickly on the mountain. We could see a storm rolling in from a distance, and it was starting to get chilly, but the vibe was everything and the photos we made are some of my favorites. We wrapped up just as the storm blew in and got to the car as the first drops were hitting us.

Escaping the rain just in time

If you plan to stay and end the night with a drink or dinner at the historic Timberline Lodge, make sure to snag a reservation as the restaurant rant often gets busy during the summer, and seating is limited!

Honestly, I’m already dying to go back to Mt Hood! If you want to plan an adventure session, hell even a micro wedding, elopement, engagement or just because session, don’t hesitate to reach out, ya girl is always down!

If you made it this far, THANK YOU! Thanks for being here, for checking out this fun adventurous Mt Hood session. I’m excited you’re here!
